Bourse de Commerce

Education

The visits offered for groups in an educational setting (school and student groups, social action groups, groups of visitors with disabilities) bring visitors face-to-face with the artworks. They learn how to hone their regard and find the words needed to describe the work and how they perceive it.

School groups, groups of students and visitors with disabilities, as well as group visits within a social action context, will be welcome to visit the Bourse de Commerce from 4 October onwards.

Activities are conducted in French. If you wish to organize a visit in another language, please contact us at groupes@pinaultcollection.com.

Follow our guides!

Enjoy a guided visit with a specialized tour guide at the Bourse de Commerce. The tour content is adapted to suit the group, the age of the participants and their educational needs. On offer: a range of five themed tours.

A time-travelling machine

Seen from the outside, forming a perfect circle, and a unique sight on the Parisian urban landscape, the Bourse de Commerce is somewhat of a rarity. This tour whisks you away on an astonishing journey from the 16th to the 21st centuries, with stopovers in the beautiful 18th and 19th centuries. From the Medici Column to Tadao Ando’s concrete cylinder, the architecture of the building and its history serve as the guiding thread of this visit.

A collection of art words

Can we collect words as we collect objects? Can we compare the museum and its repertoire of objects to a dictionary? How can we collect words? By learning them by heart, by writing them down, by recording them…? This tour is an opportunity to glean words from the artworks, to put the works into letters and poetry into images.

Selfie forever?

Today, the images that we record of ourselves, for social networks in particular, are often doomed to be used and forgotten quickly, like reflections in a mirror. Works of art, on the contrary, are anchored in the long term and serve other purposes. This visit explores figuration, self-representation and self-portraiture and encourages a reflection on the nature of images.

Where are we?

Where do artworks come from? Who chooses to exhibit them? How do you arrange them in space? Are the artists present on-site? What is a museum label? Who are the professionals that allow exhibitions to see the light of day? On this tour, find the answers to all these questions and get a glimpse into the workings of a contemporary art museum.

Critical meaning

What can we say about a work of contemporary art? What meaning can we ascribe it? How do we comment on it? By practising active observation and working on the choice of words to describe artworks, this tour allows participants to invent aesthetic concepts imagined and formulated collectively. Through the expression of individual tastes, learn about art criticism and practice sharing your views with others.

Visit-workshops

Bookings will open on September 13th

Imagined alongside the exhibitions and the programmes of the Bourse de Commerce and led by mediator-guides or by guest artists, these workshops invite young visitors to train their eye and sharpen their sensibility for contemporary creativity.

Activities are conducted in French. If you wish to organize a visit-workshop in another language, please contact us at groupes@pinaultcollection.com.

Workshops last 1.5 hours and are intended for groups of 5- to 12-year-olds.

La visite-atelier décalée (The offbeat visit-workshop), for 5- to 7-year-olds.

Portraits – whether full length or bust – close framing, characters who seem lost in their thoughts, blurred faces or piercing gazes: artists have countless means of capturing spectators’ attention and inviting them to enter a fictional world that nonetheless feels very real. Accompanied by a mediator, children are invited to make their way through the museum and to discover the range of different compositions and framings used by artists. Once they have all these images in mind, they will have the chance to draw their own portrait before framing it in the way that best expresses their emotions.

La visite-atelier Les mille et un visages de la Bourse de Commerce (The many faces of the Bourse de Commerce visit-workshop), for 8- to 12-year-olds..

Long closed off and hidden from public view, the remarkable and unique architecture of the Bourse de Commerce can now be rediscovered. Accompanied by a mediator, children are invited to study the architecture of the museum, with all its curves and its forms, and to learn how to understand space through observation and through emotion. Using the architectural elements discussed during their visit, each child is then invited to imagine a collage that will give form to the face of the Bourse de Commerce.
