Founded in 2013 by Koshiro Hino, goat (jp) initially took shape as a quartet featuring guitar, saxophone, bass, and drums. Now a five-piece ensemble, the group’s members switch instruments depending on the piece.
goat (jp) explores muted sounds, harmonics, and intervals. Their minimalist compositions are built around patterns repeated with almost mechanical precision, giving rise to music that is at once complex and pared-back, mechanical and sensual.
