In continuity with its presentation at Palazzo Grassi, the exhibition “CHRONORAMA” will travel to the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin. Situated on the first floor of the building, a true gem of Neoclassical German architecture, this flowing exhibition once again unfurls its temporal, artistic narrative drawn from the Condé Nast archives and now part of the Pinault Collection. Showing these photographic treasures in Berlin offers a veritable cross-section of the history of the medium in the twentieth century, in which Germany was an important part, as testified to by the presence of Steffie Brandl, Horst P. Horst, Frieda Gertrud Riess, and Erwin Blumenfeld. The presentation of this exhibition at the Helmut Newton Foundation helps contextualise Newton’s own work and its significance within the photographic panorama of the 1970s.
Curated by Matthias Harder, Director of the Helmut Newton Foundation, and Matthieu Humery, Curator of Photography at Pinault Collection.
