The Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi hosts an afternoon of screenings and talks dedicated to Italian independent cinema of the 1960s and 1970s.
The round table with artists and filmmakers is accompanied, before and after, by the screening of some of their films and rediscovered works that have rarely been seen by the general public. Moderated by Cosetta Saba (University of Udine) and Carmelo Marabello (Università Iuav di Venezia), the talks will feature the participation of director and professor of American studies Massimo Bacigalupo, filmmakers Tonino De Bernardi, Alfredo Leonardi, Roberto Nanni, and filmmaker and theatre director Michele Sambin.
The event, organised by the Università Iuav di Venezia and the University of Udine, is part of the research project A minor historical case? Agency and dissent in Italian “independent” cinema between art, counter-information, distribution channels and non-standard practices (1961-1976), funded by the MUR through the PRIN 2022 call for proposals.
