Paulo Nazareth. Camminare
Palazzo Grassi and Chora Media explore the artistic practice and ideas of Paulo Nazareth, an artist currently exhibiting at Punta della Dogana, in a new episode of the podcast Fuori da Qui.
On the occasion of the exhibition "Paulo Nazareth. Algebra", currently on view at Punta della Dogana, Palazzo Grassi and Chora Media present a new episode of the podcast Fuori da Qui. The episode accompanies the exhibition and explores its themes through a narrative that weaves together archival images, social history, and artistic practice.
The episode, Camminare (Walking), follows in the footsteps of Paulo Nazareth, who, by walking barefoot around the world and opposing the precision of memory to the erasure of documents, invites us to explore the colonial and commercial soul of the West. It begins with archival images and a story that unfolds across twentieth-century Brazil, connected to one of the country’s most emblematic histories of exclusion and internment. Drawing on this visual and historical material, the podcast traces a journey through places, testimonies, and some of the key concepts of Paulo Nazareth’s practice, in which the act of walking becomes a form of knowledge, passage, and relationship with others.
The narrative intertwines with the exhibition "Algebra" at Punta della Dogana, a site historically associated with the control and registration of goods, now reactivated as a space for reflecting on the ways human lives are interpreted and classified.
