Sleeping concert

There's a child sleeping near his twin - Sleeping concert

For the first time, the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi hosts a nocturnal concert conceived to be experienced in a state of total or partial sleep. There's a child sleeping near his twin is a performative event that enables the public to experience a collective sound dream.

For approximately eight hours, the three sound-performers Aldo AliprandiJohann Merrich and Federico Dal Pozzo, with various electronic instruments, modulate a sound with a slow rhythm that affects the perceptive system of participants who are in a state between sleep and wakefulness. The procedure of the event is inspired by practices of mystical traditions revolving around sound and was developed in the 1980s by Robert Rich, one of the most influential composers of ambient music.
