Palazzo Grassi—Punta della Dogana presents the second event of a new music programme curated by French‐American bass singer Nicholas Isherwood, offering a reinterpretation of the legacy of some of the 20th century’s most eminent composers through a dialogue between generations.
The concert, entitled "Morricone/Galperine: Beyond Film Music", opens with Evgueni Galperine who presents a listening session of his album "Theory of Becoming" (2022, ECM Records), with some of them being accompanied by videos created by video artists or filmmakers. Evgueni Galperine collaborated with Andrey Zvyagintsev, François Ozon, Luc Besson, Hagai Levi, Barry Sonnenfeld and Barry Levinson and has written the soundtracks for feature films such as "Loveless", "Happening", "Corpus Christi" and for highly successful TV and streaming series, most recently the Netflix production "Baby Reindeer" (2024).
Afterwards, Susanna Rigacci's performance pays tribute to the legacy of Ennio Morricone, one of the most famous soundtrack composers in film history. Ennio Morricone's favourite opera singer and soprano, who has performed in the world's most important theatres including La Scala Theatre, Rigacci sings film music created by the maestro, accompanied on the piano by her brother, the well-known pianist Pietro Rigacci.
