Dorsoduro Museum Mile - the extraordinary cultural journey through eight centuries of art in the Dorsoduro district which brings together the Accademia Galleries, the Palazzo Cini Gallery, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection and Punta della Dogana - presents an unprecedented cycle of guided tours, conducted by Directors and curators of the four institutions and dedicated to the transversal themes of art, from ancient to contemporary, through the collections and current exhibitions.
The intiative "Le guide del Miglio" offers eight guided tours, scheduled on every Monday of the months of June and September, at 12 pm, in the four institutions of the Dorsoduro Museum Mile.
In June, the guided tours will be dedicated to the theme light:
- Monday 5 June at Gallerie dell’Accademia
- Monday 12 June at Collezione Peggy Guggenheim
- Monday 19 June at Punta della Dogana
- Monday 26 June at Galleria di Palazzo Cini
From the livid light of Giorgione's extraordinary "Tempesta" at the Gallerie dell'Accademia, to the surreal light that illuminates René Magritte's masterpiece "The Empire of Light", and, through, the splendor of the golden threads of the work "Ttéia" by Lygia Pape which, like rays, pierce the darkness in the "Icônes" exhibition at Punta della Dogana, to the Caravaggesque glow of Artemisia Gentileschi's "Cleopatra" at Palazzo Cini Gallery. The visitors have the unique opportunity to travel through the eight centuries of the Dorsoduro Museum Mile, in an unprecedented journey, narrated by the voices of the directors of the various institutions.
In September, the guided tours are dedicated to the theme of colours:
- Monday 4 September at Gallerie dell’Accademia
- Monday 11 September at Punta della Dogana
- Monday 18 September at Collezione Peggy Guggenheim
- Monday 25 September at Galleria di Palazzo Cini
How to participate
Participation to the guided tours is free, subject to availability and with no booking, with the admission ticket for the exhibition. Visitors who buy a paid ticket in one of the Museums of the Dorsoduro Museum Mile or hold the Membership Card of one of the Institutions, is entitled to a reduced-price admission ticket in the other partner institutions. In the months of June and September, the admission ticket purchased on the occasion of the guided tour days "Le guide del Miglio" will be exceptionally valid for obtaining the reduction at the other institutions on the days of the guided tour.
