Dawson City - frozen time

The Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi and the Cineteca di Bologna present the new film by Bill Morrison, Dawson City – Frozen Time, in the presence of the director. Met with success in 2016 at the Mostra del Cinema in Venice, and then at the New York Film Festival, Dawson City tells of the basis of the American Dream through images: the era of the Gold Rush, the United States depicted by Charlie Chaplin and the origins of Capitalism with stars and stripes as we know it today.

Among the most interesting examples of film found footage, Dawson City - Frozen Time tells the real events of a collection of 533 films, including silent films, news, interviews and other documents of the Ten and Twenty years, overall, they constitute a vast corpus of cinema archaeology. In 1978, the 533 films were discovered at random during excavations for the construction of a recreation center.

From the first screening to the loss of the tours, to the daring discovery, the adventurous set of events that interest this important nucleus of films takes place parallel to the evolution of Dawson City, a Canadian city, located at the confluence of the Klondike and Yukon rivers, it is historically considered the symbol of the American Gold Rush.
