On the occasion of the opening of the exhibitions, the Teatrino invites the entire city to take part in a unique experience of collective creation and public celebration.
The public is invited to participate in the creation of a boi, a large papier-mâché figure inspired by the popular traditions of Minas Gerais (Brazil). The project is conceived by Paulo Nazareth, whose exhibition “Algebra” is presented at Punta della Dogana.
At the end of the workshop, the boi becomes the protagonist of a public procession, moving through the city in a shared moment of celebration. The procession departs from Palazzo Grassi, passes through the Dorsoduro district and across the Accademia Bridge, and concludes at Punta della Dogana. A central figure in Brazilian festive cultures, the boi is traditionally carried in procession and brought to life through music and collective participation.
The workshop is led by Mestre Faria (José Faria Júlio), an art educator and brincante, together with the community connected to the artist.
At the same time, the same activity takes place in Veneza, in the municipality of Ribeirão das Neves (Minas Gerais, Brazil), where the roots of Nazareth’s practice lie. The two actions are connected creating a shared moment across the two contexts.
