Guided tour reserved for Pinault Collection Members discovering the Fondo Palazzo Grassi at the Historical Archive of Contemporary Arts

For Pontus Hulten, artistic director of Palazzo Grassi during the early years of FIAT’s management, a successful exhibition had to be not only ‘educational’ but also enjoyable. It was, in fact, of fundamental importance that visitors should not be aware of ‘the thousands of letters, telephone calls, telegrams, dinners, lunches and meetings’ that had made it possible.

Exploring the “Fondo Palazzo Grassi 1984–2005” at the Historical Archive of Contemporary Arts – La Biennale di Venezia will allow participants in this exclusive tour to go behind the scenes of Palazzo Grassi’s FIAT era, the period that most effectively paved the way for the arrival of the Pinault Collection in Venice. Letters, drawings, plans, posters and previously unseen images will enable visitors to retrace over twenty years of the history of its exhibitions.

The tour is led by Maria Novella Tavano, art historian specialised in the history of Palazzo Grassi’s exhibitions, and by the ASAC staff.
