On the occasion of the new edition of Art Night Venezia, the exhibition "Thomas Schütte. Genealogies" at Punta della Dogana is open to the public free of charge on Saturday 21 June from 7 p.m. to midnight (last admission at 11 p.m.).
Presented at Punta della Dogana, it is the first major exhibition in Italy of German artist Thomas Schütte (born 1954 in Oldenburg, Germany). Caricatured, sometimes mishandled, always poignant, the human figure investigated by Schütte comes to life through clay, wax, ceramic, glass, steel, bronze or in works on paper. Sculptures, architectural models, photographs, drawings and engravings have, since the late 1970s, formed a constantly evolving repertoire that combines violence and ingenuity, intimacy and theatricality, seriousness and humour.
